Overview
A Christian spiritual cohort is a small, committed group of believers who journey together for a season
with the shared purpose of growing in faith, healing, and spiritual maturity. Rather than attending a onetime
class or event, a cohort meets regularly over 10 weeks, creating space for God to work deeply and personally.
At the heart of a cohort is: community, where no one walks alone; intentional growth, where each session builds on the last; spiritual formation, where God heals and transforms the heart; and a safe, trusted environment, where honesty and vulnerability can flourish. A cohort is less about information and more about transformation, making room to hear God, respond to Him, and grow in His love.
Back Porch Ministry exists to walk with people as they discover freedom, healing, and a deeper relationship with Jesus. Each resource we offer is designed to help people live whole, restored, and firmly grounded in God’s truth. This cohort is an invitation to slow down, listen, and allow the Holy Spirit to gently transform every part of your life.
Every day we make choices that align us with either God’s Kingdom of peace, joy, and truth, or the
kingdom of darkness marked by fear and confusion. Participants learn how to walk in Kingdom authority,
stay connected to God’s presence, and live abundantly.
God desires a personal relationship with each of us. Through Scripture, quiet listening, and the gentle
nudges of the Holy Spirit, we learn to recognize the voice of Jesus and to grow in confidence that He
really does speak to us.
Throughout life, lies form through hurt, fear, or painful experiences. These ungodly beliefs shape how
we respond to the world. In this cohort, we learn to identify these lies and replace them with God’s truth,
allowing genuine transformation and renewal.
Ungodly soul ties are unhealthy emotional or spiritual bonds that can keep us connected to past
relationships, hurts, or experiences in ways that hinder freedom. In this cohort, participants learn to
recognize how these ties form and discover how Jesus breaks those chains of bondage.
Blessings are passed on generationally, but sinful patterns, tendencies, and behaviors can repeat through family lines. The good news is that Jesus came to break every cycle and establish a new legacy of blessing. We learn to recognize unhealthy family patterns and walk in freedom through Christ.
Wounds from our earliest relationships shape how we see ourselves, others, and even God. Many of us carry wounds from unmet needs for safety, nurture, affirmation, or belonging. Jesus heals these wounded places and restores our hearts so we can experience God as our loving Father.
Healing through forgiveness invites participants to experience one of God’s most powerful gifts—freedom from the weight of offense, bitterness, and pain. Together we explore what forgiveness is, why unforgiveness becomes a spiritual stronghold, and how Jesus leads us through a gentle process of surrender, release, and receiving renewed peace.
We introduce simple, life-giving rhythms that help us slow down and make space for God to speak and heal:
- Lectio Divina – encountering Scripture through silence, reflection, and prayer.
- Visio Divina – letting God speak through images, creation, or artwork.
- Breath Prayer – calming the heart through Scripture woven into your breathing.
- Prayer of Examen – which helps us notice God’s presence and reflect with gratitude.
- Silence & Solitude – the sacred rhythm of stepping away from noise to listen, rest, and be renewed in God’s
presence. - Statio – to center us and make us conscious of what we are about to do next.
- Sabbath Rest – In the quiet of rest our hearts recalibrate.
Throughout this Cohort – you can:
- Experience God’s presence in meaningful ways.
- Break cycles that have lingered for years.
- Replace lies with God’s truth.
- Receive a renewed sense of identity.
- Cultivate spiritual rhythms that bring peace and clarity.
- Grow in confidence hearing God’s voice.
- Step into a new legacy of blessing for your family.
You don’t have to strive.
You don’t have to perform.

Just have an open heart.
Jesus is the One who heals, restores, speaks, and leads us into abundant life.
God’s Rich Blessings!
