What is a Cohort

At a Back Porch Ministry Cohort, we create a safe and welcoming space where you can slow down,
take a breath, and encounter God’s presence. Each session is held in a small group format that allows
for honest conversation and personal connection. Many of us carry wounds, doubts, or patterns of
thinking that weigh us down. These sessions are designed to be a time of healing and renewal, where
you can encounter God’s heart for you, to live life to the full. As we gather, you’ll find encouragement
in community, strength through prayer, and fresh perspective in the truth of God’s Word.

Over ten weeks, we will walk together through a process that touches both the mind and the heart.
Each session blends gentle teaching, practical steps, and times of prayer, where the Holy Spirit meets
us personally. The focus is not simply on information but on transformation—helping you to
understand your true identity in Jesus Christ and how that truth sets you free to live with joy and
confidence.

You can expect evenings filled with moments of listening for God’s voice, identifying and breaking free
from ungodly beliefs, and releasing unhealthy soul ties that hold you back. We will also invite the Lord
Jesus to bring healing from generational sin and family wounds, offering forgiveness where it is needed
and receiving restoration where hearts have been broken. In these times, many discover not only God’s
power to heal, but also His deep love and tenderness for them personally.

We also practice spiritual rhythms that help us slow down and rest in God’s presence—Silence and
Solitude, Examen, Sabbath Rest, Lectio Divina, Visio Divina, Rule of Life and Breath Prayer. Each
rhythm becomes a way to anchor your life in Christ, and to carry His peace into your daily walk.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into anew person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

ROMANS 12:2 NLT

As you consider joining this 10-week journey, we want you to feel both welcomed and supported.
These sessions build on one another, and much of the healing, clarity, and breakthrough God brings
happens as we walk intentionally through the process together.

Because of that, we lovingly encourage each participant to make every effort to attend consistently. If
you feel that you may need to miss more than two sessions, it may be better to wait for the next cohort
so that you can fully experience the flow, connection, and personal investment the journey offers. You
are invited to come as you are, ready to encounter the Lord’s love and healing in a personal way.

Blessings,
Glenn and Jan
